Stars Program

What is the Stars Program

We are introducing the Honor Stars Program to recognize our Care Pros who consistently perform well across several important measures: Call-offs, Client Consistency, Timeliness, App Usage, and Average Weekly Hours.

How the Stars Program works

You can receive stars by meeting performance standards that reflect a high degree of professionalism, reliability, and commitment. Earn 2 or 3 Stars to be eligible to receive a Stars Premium, which is an hourly payment on top of your regular wages. Maintain your high performance to keep your stars and the Stars Premium month to month. If your performance drops and you lose stars, you will no longer receive the Stars Premium.

How to see if you're on track for stars

Stars are measured once per month and take into account your performance over time with Honor. This will happen on the Stars Review Date, which will be the last day of the last pay period in the month. You will be able to see this date in your Care Pro App from your 'You' tab.

To see what stars you're projected to receive at the next Review Date, look just below your current stars.

  • If you're maintaining your performance, we'll let you know you're on track to keep your Stars and Stars Premium.
  • If you've raised your performance to meet the criteria for a higher level of stars, we'll let you know you're on track to receive more stars and a higher Stars Premium.
  • If your performance has dropped below the criteria for the Stars you have, we'll let you know you're at risk to lose your Stars and Stars Premium next month.

To learn more about why you are (or are not) on track for the next Review Date, review your Performance Summary. Tap the star level you'd like to see if you're on track for, and review your performance measures. Each performance measure will have a green bar when you are on track for a specific star level.

How are stars awarded and how long do they last?

We want to make sure your stars reflect your most up-to-date performance. Once per month we'll measure your performance since January 12, 2020 (or your hire date, if later). This will happen on the Stars Review Date, which will be the last day of the last pay period in the month. Based on that performance, we'll update your Stars. If you lose stars, you can still get them back on future Review Dates if you raise your performance back up.

When does the Stars Premium start and how long will I receive it?

If you're awarded stars, you'll receive the Stars Premium for work on or after 7 a.m. on the Review Date, up until 7 a.m. on the next Review Date. This is called the Rewards Period. If you maintain your stars on the next Review Date, you'll continue to receive the Stars Premium.

If your performance falls and you drop from 3 Stars to 2 Stars, your Stars Premium will be reduced for work on or after 7 a.m. on the Review Date. If you drop to 1 Star or below, you will no longer receive the Stars Premium.

How will I see the Stars Premium in my app?

Once you have received Stars and a Stars Premium, all future visits and job offers will reflect the Stars Premium in the hourly rate shown in the app. The Stars Premium will be added to your regular hourly rate, so you will only see the combined hourly rate.

If you have job offers or visits that extend beyond the next Review Date, the pay rate will also reflect the Stars Premium. However, if your performance falls on the next Review Date and you lose stars, your pay rate will go down for all offers and visits after the Review Date, even if they were already on your schedule.

What about my performance beyond these measures?

We understand that not all aspects of your performance fall neatly into the Stars Program, but are still important to providing quality care. Clients depend on your experience and skills, your professionalism, and the way you engage with them with empathy and respect day to day.

Performance measures in the app are a complement to this and a way that we can reward consistent and reliable work over time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Stars Premium?

A Stars Premium is an hourly payment on top of your regular wage for each hour worked. Stars Premiums are different from shift bonuses, which are one-time fixed amounts applied to specific shifts regardless of the number of hours worked. The Stars Premium applies in addition to any other premiums that apply for a visit.

What is the Stars Review Date?

Once per month, we will measure your performance to see if you qualify to receive stars. The Review Date is the last day of the last payroll period in the month. Note that this will often be a date that is in the first week of the next calendar month.

The Review Date is the day we review performance up to that date and update a Care Pro's Stars and the Star Premium as needed. The next Review Date will be displayed on the 'You' tab of the Care Pro app along with your projected Stars for that Review Date.

What is the Stars Reward Period?

When a Care Pro receives stars on the Review Date, the stars and Stars Premium are applied to hours worked from 7 a.m. on that Review Date until the next monthly Review Date, which we call the Reward Period. Once a Care Pro earns stars, they'll receive the Stars Premium so long as they maintain their stars month to month. If a Care Pro loses stars, the Star Premium will no longer apply.

What is the future of the Stars Program?

Honor’s Stars Program is being made available to a select group of eligible Care Pros. It is intended to recognize Care Pros for consistently high performance by paying a premium on top of regular wages. While exciting, it is an experimental performance program that we’re testing out. It is not part of Honor’s standard base wage program, but rather represents a variable compensation opportunity based on performance. We had originally announced that the Stars program would end in August, 2022. We have decided to extend the program for the time being. We may extend, modify or end the Stars Program at any time. If for some reason we end the Stars Program, we'll honor any Stars Premium that you are receiving at that time for 60 days after the last Stars Review Date.
